
Faculty of International Tourism is organizing the conference “New Values for Development of Tourism and Society” at Turība on June 2 and June 3.
Students are welcome to take part and win the prizes in the scientific research competition “New Values for Development of Tourism and Society”.
The first day of the conference, June 2, will focus on scientific work sessions – more info available in our website under Science and Projects.

However, the second day will be designed for professionals, students, alumni and those simply interested in the field of tourism.

During the first part of the conference, local and foreign professionals will share their experience on starting up and managing a rural tourism enterprise and including national cuisine and local cultural heritage in the offer.
The speakers will be Asnāte Ziemele, the President of Latvian Rural Tourism Association "Countryside Traveler", Ulla Maija Rouhiainen, an entrepreneur in travel and guiding, lecturer and author of several books on the subject (Finland), Ton Knobbout, director of a consulting company from the Netherland, and Klaus Ehrlich, General Secretary at EuroGites - European Federation of Rural Tourism (Spain).
During the second part of the day, participants will have a choice of joining either of the working groups:
· Applying the theory of marketing in real life enterprises and organizations (Moderated by: Lecturer at Turība and a well known expert in tourism marketing with extensive international experience- Aija van der Steina) ;
· Brand management of tourism destinations – cities, regions, and nations (Moderated by: Lecturer at Turība Ainārs Brencis);
· New markets, opportunities and products in tourism (Moderated by: Development manager in private customer segment at tourism company “Via Hansa” Ēriks Lingebērziņš and associated professor at Turība and mentor for small and medium enterprises- Vita Zariņa).
The conference will be organized within the framework of Leonardo da Vinci program “Transferred AURORA Products – New Opportunities for Rural Tourism”.
